By showing up completely, we weave our team stronger.

Our core values are at the heart of everything we do.

We share our values to help you connect to us in the deepest, and most meaningful way. Underlying all of this is a hope for a just and equitable world, and our commitment to constantly learn and better ourselves in service of it.

We will always acknowledge and address our rank and privilege in the work that we do.

Other core values…

People Weaver

We cherish diversity. Connecting to people, building community, and ensuring that our world is a vibrant fabric of people.

Civic Trusteeship

Described as “planting a tree you will never sit under.” We  take care of and nurture others, not for our benefit but for theirs. We hope to continuously pay it forward, with humility and in support of our communities.

Bare Feet

We prioritize staying grounded and keeping in touch with the world so as to always feel the blades of grass between our toes.

Belly Laughs

B3 seeks joy in the world, and moments where we can let our guards down completely, to experience child-like wonder, and humor even in the hardest of times.

Exploration

We are constantly learning, exploring, and appreciating what we don’t know. We do this in service of seeing and appreciating all the differences.

Cultivate

We believe that just as food can be grown, each person deserves to be nurtured and cultivated to become their finest self. We make intentional space for this cultivation in our personal lives and in work encounters.

To complement our perspective, we routinely work in partnerships with other individuals and organizations. We are grateful for the colleagues willing to partner with us, and who we are able to support in their work as well, as these client-facing conversations often result in us partnering with a peer and colleague who brings a needed perspective to the engagement.

Meet the founder and lead coach-catalyst,
Betsy Baum Block.

I spent the first decade of my professional career in telecommunications software development and decided that making good phone bills wasn’t enough for me. From telecom, I became a program evaluator.

I was coaching before I realized it, but started training while on leave with my child.

Once I saw the impact of coaching tools, I was hooked!

Though I originally hail from Texas, I’ve lived across the country and traveled across the globe. I’ve called California home now for over twenty years, and live in a 1914 craftsman in Oakland with my spouse and kiddo.

Here are a few fun facts about me:

  • One of my favorite annual events is the annual Halloween marionette show Driveway Follies, for which I created a nonprofit to ensure the show's longevity.

  • Our property has over ten different types of fruit trees, which I harvest and can into various types of jam and share with friends and family. I also love to host dinner parties any chance I get.

  • I’ve done triathlons for over 16 years, including two half Ironman events. I think of the swim as the event before I get on my bike, and then run as the event between my bike and the finish line!  Recently I became a USA Triathlon Level 1 Certified Coach.

  • I’m a big fan of black coffee (simple, what can I say!)

  • I once jumped off a perfectly good boat at Alcatraz Island in the San Francisco bay to swim over two miles back to shore- a feat I attempted and failed fifteen years prior.

  • I’m a proud dog mom to a pair of beagles that my husband and I adopted when I was 35 weeks pregnant and on bed rest.

Why B3???

When our founder was a kid, her alliterative name (Betsy Baum) led to all sorts of nicknames.  As a bit of a math geek, her friends took to calling her B-squared. She couldn’t imagine changing her name until she met her partner and felt she could power up to B-cubed (Betsy Baum Block).

When framing the business around Betsy’s initials, she always knew she would speak to BE-ing as much as DO-ing.

The intention with B3 is to think about the things you can BE.

My mission is to help small to mid-size nonprofit leadership teams navigate strategic changes intentionally, effectively, and confidently through coaching engagements.
