Collective Team Coaching for Nonprofit Teams

Unleash your team’s brilliance and transform your organization

Your nonprofit team is ready to take things to the next level… and you’re unsure about what resources are needed.

You’d like more than a one-off team-building event…but perhaps hiring a coach specifically for your team is outside your budget.

How about cohort-based team coaching?

We designed Collective Team Coaching to make the benefits of team coaching more accessible to organizations like yours.

Just like an agate stone reveals its stunning layers when polished, your team’s brilliance can shine through intentional transformation.
Betsy skillfully identified ways to allow interpersonal conflict and organizational challenges to surface without overshadowing an otherwise positive experience.

Is your team facing disruptive changes?

Strategy shifts

Your organization has adjusted your strategy—and your team is struggling to find solid footing.

New Leadership or Turnover

Your team has yet to regain equilibrium after a new leader has steps into the mix or a key person has left the organization.

Internal culture

Burnout. Same-old-same-old. Frustration. So many teams deal with these challenges — and try to sweep the impacts under the rug.

External Impacts

Many organizations are navigating world or local events that impact their teams like ghosts hanging out in the office.

Team coaching may not be on your radar—but it’s probably what you need!

Collective Team Coaching is the magic sauce for teams ready to surge ahead with clarity and commitment.

Not only has the coaching brought our team closer together, it gave us the space to strengthen our trust in one another.

Imagine watching your team dive fearlessly into complex problems.

What if your team could (finally!):

  • Move ahead on crucial goals with nothing lurking below the surface holding them back.

  • Feel a renewed sense of possibility, knowing that when roadblocks come up in the future they’ll have the skills they need to overcome them.

  • Develop a deep sense of connection and trust, with the ability to have conversations they didn’t know were possible.

What could your team accomplish with additional support?

  • Making sure we know what a nonprofit team really is—and how to improve it

  • Creating a clear language around change

  • Transforming resistance and conflict into a powerful force for innovation

  • Reclaiming your vision, not just as an organization but as a team

Workshops are all live and include many breakout sessions so that teams get dedicated time to discuss questions as they apply to the team.

In these conversations, the staff moved from a passive, gossip-based communication to taking control and finding their leadership voices.

FAQs

  • It’s usually a management team, but really any team. The manager participates and has decision-making authority.

  • Teams of 7+ are too big for this program—but we’d be happy to talk about another solution for their team.

  • Nope- it has to be the WHOLE team. The exception is if part of the team is working on a project – so, in essence, they are a sub-team.  The goal is to have the "whole" that is working together on a common goal.

  • The maximum is 6 teams, so expect a total of 40 people in the cohort. We'll make awesome use of breakouts that cross teams, as well as team breakouts, during the workshop days, so it won't ever feel too big!

  • The cohort workshops and team coaching will happen over Zoom. In the rare instance where a team is less than 20 miles from my home office, I can travel to the team for in-person coaching.

  • Teams that plan for 10-12 hours of effort between each cycle will see the most powerful benefits.

  • Team coaching is for the WHOLE team, so the team is responsible for making sure the team gets the information. Each team will uniquely design for this with their team.

  • Teams will struggle with new concepts - and that's where we can do some amazing learning and application in the team coaching sessions. If the team needs even more support, we can consider adding additional team-specific support (fee-based).

  • Heck, yes! The coach will be there by email at a minimum with one-off questions, and perhaps for a short check-in to help keep the team on track.

  • I use the Team Diagnostic Assessment from Team Coaching International both before & after to measure improvement across 14 attributes of effective teams. These attributes resonate well with mission-driven teams, and provide useful comparison to for-profit teams.

Created by The Agate Initiative

The Agate Initiative began as a collaboration between Betsy/B3 and Julia Wilson, who first modeled how to bring team coaching more equitably and affordably to the nonprofit sector.

Whereas team coaching isn’t always in the budget for individual nonprofit teams, Collective Team Coaching is a much more doable investment–and brings huge benefits.

Together, we agreed that this model is something we hope will evolve and scale and incorporate more coaches.

Over time, The Agate Initiative will grow to bring team coaching equitably to the sector—we’ve committed to learning and growing this initiative together!

Get ready to transform your team!
